10 Simple Ways to Refresh your Home this Fall
10 Simple ways to refresh your home this fall and prepare for the new season ahead by using these tips to reevaluate and renew.
1) Refresh your home this Fall by washing all bedding and changing out for warmer linens

I love to close out the summer by washing ALL of my bedding. All pillow covers, duvet covers, mattress protectors, and even pillows need a deep clean. After all of the bedding is washed, I like to store away the lighter linens and take time to pull out my warmer colors for the fall. I love to bring in cozy throw blankets and make the bed extra inviting. I also like to bring in new pillow covers and I usually change out them seasonally. Depending on where you live, you may change out your sheets to flannel or your duvet or comforter for something extra warm. Here in Florida, the weather doesn’t change much so I just change the throw pillows and blankets to make the bed more cozy.
2) Refresh your home this Fall by putting away your summer clothes
Refresh your home this fall and bring in clothing for the cooler months. Also use this time to go through your summer weather clothing and see what you actually wore. If you didn’t wear an item this year, be thankful for it and then donate it. For the items you are keeping, I especially love these Laura Ashley bins to store away out of season clothing.
This is also a great time to make of list of items you need for the coming months. As you survey your wardrobe, make sure you have outfits for the coming holidays, Thanksgiving & Christmas and be sure to think ahead if you are doing Christmas photos too.
3) Refresh your home this Fall by going through your pantry
I love taking time to show my kitchen some attention. Go through all your pantry items and see what is expired and either use it up or trash it. Make note of items you would like to use up soon on your meal plan. Maybe there is some summery dry goods that you’d like to use up.
Now that you have more room in your pantry, think ahead to what you will need for the holiday season and the cooler months.
Do you make a lot of chili? Make sure you have beans and enough chili powder and cumin on hand.
I don’t know about you, but the cooler months make me think all about baking! So I love to take this time and make sure I have enough cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda, flour, chocolate chips, cocoa powder, sugar, and any other favorite dry goods for baking. I also like to make sure my canned pumpkin stash is good to go for at least 3 months so I can make pie, lattes, cookies and breads during the fall season.
4) Refresh your Home this Fall by cleaning out your vents and replace filters
One great way to refresh your home this fall is to clean vents. This is a job that I give to my husband but I also have to remind him to do it. So this is your reminder to either do it yourself or ask your husband to help out. Make sure to have your vacuum and cleaner ready because things can get dusty.
5) Simple Fall home refresh by giving your car a deep clean inside and out
This is a great time of year to give your car some love. First, get rid of any trash. Then, go through and declutter. Take out any summer time items such as beach bags, swimsuits, or bug spray. Give everything inside a deep clean and vacuum.
Then, make sure to fill the car with items you use in the cooler months. Depending on where you live that may mean some gloves, ice scrapers, hand warmers or sweatshirts and blankets.
Make sure to give the outside of the car a nice wash down too. This is also a great time to either have your husband do a maintenance check on your car or have a professional do the job. Our cars are such a huge blessing to us, as they take us everywhere we need to go. It’s important to take the time to care for them and show thankfulness for them.
6) Simple Fall Refresh by deep cleaning as you put away summer decor.

As you are putting away seashells and summer decorations, it’s a great time to deep clean before you add in fall touches. I like to dust and take care of areas that I don’t get a chance to do often. Behind furniture, under furniture, and baseboards get quite dusty especially because I don’t do them on a regular basis.
7) Refresh your Home this Fall by cleaning up the beach gear and pool toys
You may still use your outdoors depending where you live, but now is a great time to go through your garage and your yard and put away some items for next year. You also may need to put away outdoor furniture if you live some place that gets quite cold in the fall and winter months.
8) Refresh your Home simply by sprucing up the yard

Clean up the garden beds, trim some trees. Get things ready for the cooler months ahead.
9) Refresh your Home this Fall by planning the next season
Does your family like to go pumpkin picking every year? Before the season is well underway, look ahead and put in your must do events in the calendar. You may even take this time to start thinking about Christmas. I know it may seem early, but it takes so much pressure off when you take this time to think of gift ideas and get a general idea of how you want to spend the holiday season.

10) Refresh your Home this Fall by evaluating your rhythms and habits from the summer
The last of our 10 ways to refresh your home this fall is to evaluate. Ask yourself questions and look over where your time was spent. Did you wish you made more time with your husband? Then make sure to put in dates with your husband on the calendar first before you fill it with other activities. Did you wish you spent more down-time with the kids? Then, make sure to have certain evenings where you do not plan anything. Are there areas of your life or things that God has been calling to you that you haven’t made the time for? Are you resting enough? Don’t overfill your calendar. Make sure to set boundaries for yourself and your family. Put in the things that matter to you most and you’ll see there isn’t much more time after that. Invite God into this process and ask him where you should be spending your time this season.
Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go.
When you refresh your home this fall, these 10 easy steps will help you to be more intentional. When your home is cleaned and decluttered you can take more time in the areas of your life that matter to you. You can think clearer. When you take the time to evaluate your home, your time and your priorities , it will help you to be more conscious of what you bring into your home and how you fill your days. I hope this was helpful and I’d love to hear if there is something I didn’t mention that you do to prepare for the cooler months ahead? Stay warm!
